This small flower would go unnoticed in the garden by nearly everyone who sees it. Smaller than a child’s thumbnail, these flowers appear on the “string of beads” vine, a member of the Senecio genus. I was attracted to this flower not because of its beauty, but because of its scent: it bears a scent very similar to the smell of cloves. After I examined the flower, I took it back to my studio to photograph. I was truly in awe when I saw the amazing architecture in this diminutive flower.

"In his images, David creates fantastic, contemporary signs from nature's own high style. They become vibrant, nearly abstract mandalas."
